Our Barrel Pick Philosophy

To put this simply, Quality-over-Quantity, is our heart for barrel selections. Everyone says that. But we really mean it.

In the Bourbon and whiskey world, there are thousands of groups and clubs. We have noticed (from being members of dozens of these clubs ourselves), that there sometimes seems to be an administrative temptation to simply put out as many barrel picks as possible. Groups or clubs begin setting a desired number of picks per year, and a desired release cadence, and then put their noses to the grindstone, to meet that desired volume no matter what.

Sometimes.. that works out just fine, for a while. But, being into bourbon for as long as we have have, we have seen examples of this turning south, many times.

We have seen clubs start out strong, with amazing single barrel selections, only for those selections to slowly diminish in quality over time, for the sake of keeping up volume, to feed a hungry following.

That is never going to be BRBNFNDRs approach.

There isn't anything wrong with more "generic" picks, "good enough for the price" picks. However, we don't believe that anyone necessarily needs our take, on "status quo" picks that, while good...don't really taste orders of magnitude different than any other groups offering.

Our desire is to focus on truly amazing, exclusive, harder to come by, and unique expressions.

We are tasting barrels constantly.

When a barrel comes along that makes the cut, we will release it our members. But, we will never put out a lackluster pick for the sake of meeting a self-imposed release cadence. The barrels are the boss, and the majority of them simply don't make the cut.

So just know, when you do see something that is being rolled out as a BRBNFNDR pick, it was a long time coming, and dozens of barrels were likely rejected, in search of it .

A 'few and far between' barrel, not selected just to select something. Those are the barrels we want.

We have no desire to waste members time, or money. If that means that BRBNFNDR produces less volume, to maintain the integrity and quality that we feel our picks deserve, then so be it. At the end of the day, our brand is going to go on it too. So it needs to meet our standard.
