BRBNFNDR Exclusive Release: Catcher in the Rye
The palate gets even better. Again opening with sweet caramel and rye spice, we then pick up some candied orange, reminiscent of an orange Starburst. The citrus/orange notes fade and blend perfectly into baking spices that turn herbal as they trail off into a green tea sort of profile. From green tea, we get a slight hint of strawberry on the finish, reminding us how well the flavors of strawberry and orange meld together. On the tail end, we are finally revisited by maple and burnt sugar once again, with a bit of leather at the end. The finish goes on and on.
This is one of those ryes that makes you want to sip it slow, think about it, and sip some more. This is a "thinking Rye" with enough complexity and nuance to entertain the biggest rye aficionado as it continues to evolve, but enough sweetness and balance to be a pleasant experience for the bourbon junkie just beginning to dabble in rye. There is truly nothing not to love about Catcher In The Rye!
